We were tenants of Territory Housing in Katherine. Myself, my wife, our two children. For about two years. Nearly eighteen months in the second place. We moved out in January 2007 and our bond money - more than $600 - was retained and a further invoice for some $1500 was issued to us. This with no communication with us whatever. None whatever. No warning, no chance to do anything about it, nothing. This in the absence of the written requirements to allow the retaining of bond. This despite the fact that we'd always been good and careful tenants and had left the place in a normal sort of condition. We will take this matter to Court if necessary. We intend to recover our Bond Money and we intend to see that Housing Katherine stops behaving in this manner. This website is for anyone to use who has similar problems with the department. Or anyone who simply has an interest in good government, a good society, proper workings of government departments. People with an interest in our community.
